Open
Went down to the exhibition opening yesterday. It turned out to be a pleasant day. Started with a road trip early in the morning (early for me). I haven't slept well over the last few days, a few things have been troubling me... so the endless road provided some solace. The dark clouds on the horizon were pressing, and I began to doze off.
After lunch, we headed off to the national gallery. Ended up making an expensive purchase. I bought a book by an artist whose work I remember seeing in the Musee D'orsay that I really loved. Descended to the asian art section, and fell asleep again on the couches.
I was gradually being pulled awake, come opening time, things were falling into place. I managed to sell a few pieces on open which is always exciting. It was good to be in the background and people watch. Strangers taking out mobile phones and taking photos with my work, which was pretty cool. Was having interesting conversations with new artists and my friends from art school. Our stories and troubles had a similar thread which gave me a sense of comaradery.
On the way home it stormed, and I fell asleep again, jacket around my shoulders. I woke up briefly, and my friend grinned and said are "Are you going to take another nap? You must be half cat, half human." I couldn't help but smile and closed my eyes.
